The Team


Team Dancers is made up of two ballroom dance teams, the Formation Team Dancing and Gold Routines.

FORMATION TEAM DANCING – The Formation Team dancing welcomes dancers of all skill levels, including new dancers. The focus is on learning the skills and techniques of ballroom dance through exciting and fun choreography. The formation team is a safe and supportive way to improve your dancing, and to learn performance skills. Participation on the Formation Team requires commitment and enthusiasm.

GOLD ROUTINES – Those interested in taking their dancing to the next level by challenging the limits of their physical and technical dancing ability have the opportunity to dance in Gold Routines.

Individuals wishing to dance Gold Routines must:
– Audition and be evaluated/approved by Coach Monique.both Teams are encouraged to attend weekly group and/or private dance lessons.
– Attend every rehearsal, except with 24-hour notice.
– Be willing and able to perform lifts, drops, and solos.
– Attend 2 weekly group lessons and 1 private dance lessons a month (in any dance style).

Our Coach

MONIQUE HROUDA has been dancing all her life. She began with 15 years of classical ballet at Seattle’s Cornish School of Allied Arts, and acquired 10 years of musical theatre background with Moore Theatre Productions. After graduating from Western Washington University with a degree in speech communications and business, Monique discovered Ballroom Dancing. She won several professional competitions with her husband, Robert, in the American Smooth, Rhythm, and Showdance categories, and retired from competition after the birth of her daughter, Nichole. Currently, she is co-owner of Seattle’s premier dance studio, DanceSport International, and co-organizer of the annual Seattle Star Ball competition. She also continues to judge, coach, and educate herself in order to improve the standard of dance in the Seattle area. She is a championship-certified Northwest Terpsichore Examiner in Standard, Latin, and American styles of dance. Monique has been coaching the USA Dance – Team Dancers for over 11 years, creating exciting choreography along with sharing her talent, knowledge and love of dance. Team Dancers benefits from having such a talented, experienced and passionate coach working to improve and promote the team experience.

Joining the Team


New members are welcome to join at any time, and you are welcome to visit us during our Wednesday practices from 7pm to 10pm. Contact our Team President Maryann Watkins for up to date practice schedule information. Bring your dance shoes, as you may be invited to join us on the dance floor.

Team Dues are $85 per month for participation on the Team.

For our Team members, choose the "Social Adult Dancer" membership category. The cost is $35 (renews on an anniversary year basis). This category is for a dancer who performs but does not compete.

Team Dancers practice at DanceSport International – Ballroom Studio in Magnuson Park, Seattle’s premier dance studio owned and operated by Robert and Monique Hrouda.
