The word has just come down for the evening schedule at Quest:

Rehearsal:
"Shark Swing" (formerly LBS) Call: 2:45 for a 3 - 3:30 rehearsal
Chicago Call: 3:15 for a 3:30 to 4pm rehearsal

Show:
Shark swing: Call 7:40 for an 8 pm go
Chicago: Call: 10pm for a 10:30 go

Chess Dance: the Signature Ball of the S.S. Stargazer

This is a number involving the full cast of characters in Act 2 of A Chance To Dance: Secrets In the Stars.

All the passengers and crew aboard the cruise will dress in their very best to dance at the Chess Ball. Come and see what our adventure-seeking passengers shall find.

A Chance To Dance: Secrets in the Stars

Our 2006 showcase production, A Chance To Dance: Secrets in the Stars, is an original theatrical show—a dancical really—all the makings of a musical (without the singing). This ballroom dance showcase features 14 original dances choreographed by the USA Dance Seattle Performance Team and local professional dance instructors. Watch a comedy unfold as passengers go aboard the S.S. Stargazer for a trip to a lost Incan City.

The featured passengers in this high seas comedy include: a stuffy socialite, a very clever scientist, a story-telling porter, a Hollywood dancer, an injured matador, a sneaky instigator and commander. Meet a few more as the Stargazer sets sail for Southern ports and see them tell their stories through the beautiful waltz, a crazy tango, a sultry rumba, and more!

For those of us who have competed/performed at Snowballs years past, this might have seemed like a different world. The stage setting has made competition a whole lot more exciting for the audience (bring on ballroom bumpercars! yay!), and, I can imagine, more frustrating for competitors! But we, teamdancers, have lived in bright lights before. Beautiful stage, sassy dancing before a scrutinizing audience that knows quality. Well done, Team!

Performance at the STWA holiday party (12/3/2005)

Event: Seattle Taiwanese Womens' Association's holiday dinner and dance party
Location: North Bellevue Community Center
Date/Time: Dec. 03, 2005, 6-10 PM.

Thanks to everyone who participating in this performance and made it a success! Everyone was there and ready, even before the time I said we had to be. (OK, OK, so I'll admit, usually I'm the only one who isn't there and ready on time, but that's another story. Haha.) So that's Gayle, Riitta, Goretti, Carlos, Stephanie, and a special thanks to Paul and Susan for their valiant Jingle-Rock-A-Bell quickstep 3-minute marathon when the rest of us needed a little breather.

I took that opportunity to inform the crowd that Quickstep is usually the last dance in competition rounds, because it's also the most exhausting! And even after that, we would topped it off for them with a Viennese Waltz. :-)

There were a ton of great compliments for our performance, and I think we might be looking at more opportunities to come in the future from this connection!

Dance demo for holiday party

Lead-follow demonstration for a holiday party of a women's fellowship. We'll be dancing around 8 PM. Dinner (Chinese food) will be served before the dance, and we're welcome to join them. More details to follow.

Our year-round training allows us to perform dance routines and lead-and-follow demonstrations for ballroom, latin, and swing dance performances. Our 2004 Showcase featured 12 routines. We are currently preparing for a new showcase, "A Chance To Dance: Secrets in the Stars" to be performed on May 20-21, 2006 at Carco Theatre in Renton, WA and June 24-25, 2006 at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts in Langley, WA.
