The word has just come down for the evening schedule at Quest:

Rehearsal:
"Shark Swing" (formerly LBS) Call: 2:45 for a 3 - 3:30 rehearsal
Chicago Call: 3:15 for a 3:30 to 4pm rehearsal

Show:
Shark swing: Call 7:40 for an 8 pm go
Chicago: Call: 10pm for a 10:30 go

Here is the rehearsal schedule for the next few days. Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday rehearsals have all been CHANGED so please read carefully!

Wednesday 2/28
7:00 – 8:15 Chicago
8:15 – 8:45 Run-throughs and announcements
(Grease, Sirius Dance, and Viennese Waltz)
8:45 – 10:00 Formation Medley

Saturday 3/3
4:00 – 4:45 Sirius Dance
4:45 – 5:30 Chicago

Sunday 3/4
4:00 – 5:00 Viennese Waltz
5:00 – 6:00 Life Boat Swing

There will be an Officers’ Meeting on Sunday – 6:30 at Tai Ho. Officers are expected – all are welcome.

Please let me know if you have any questions or will be unable to come to any of the rehearsals.

Extra practice (Chicago)

Per our conversation last Wednesday, we are looking to ramp up the Chicago Routine for the Quest and Snowball performances. To that end I am booking rehearsal space this Friday at the Seattle Center 7 to 9 PM. I will send the request as soon as I finish typing this email. Please send me your available days. I am taking a bit of a risk in setting this up I hope you can make this work. For your reference I will put down my other considerations.

As soon as you can, please send me what days can work for you. I will do my best to make it work for us all, but know that we will all need to bend a little to make it work.

Considerations: for your reference and/or reading pleasure

Thursdays don't work for some, I already know that.

Some comments uttered on Saturday indicate more Saturday time is not desirable.

Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays can work for me going forward.

Recognize this extra work will continue only until the Snowball.

We will address this during announcements tomorrow, but it will be brief.

News from board meeting (7/9/2006)

Out of our officer's meeting yesterday some good things have come out. Some take effect this Wednesday 7/12/06. Please take a look:

The 8 to 9 o'clock hour on Wednesday is and ALL CALL REHEARSAL. It will be a VW lesson, and a dance review run through. This is designed to prepare both teams for the upcoming new routines (new VW and Chicago). During this hour we will host announcements and run the dances we are maintaining (Sirius & LBS). These runthroughs will be just that, a run designed to keep the dances alive. There will be no instruction toward those.
Weekends will remain dedicated to preparing for specific shows. Wednesdays are all calls. When the schedule is published you will see what specific item(s) we will focus on. Please check in if you are planning to miss.
We are adding another dance "gig" to the mix Friday November 10th at Dancesport Int'l. This will be a team hosted social dance in which we will perform a routine or two. Please mark your calendars and plan to come and dance, both perform and social dance with each other. This is another opportunity to bring friends and family to see you perform, then dance with all your new close friends ;-)
We are proceeding with the research of the Big Picture showcase viewing party. We are looking at a weekend in September. More to follow on that.
Those who are uncertain which group you will be rehearsing with (Performance team, Formation Team, or Both) Please get with Monique and get that worked out. That will start to effect what rehearsals you are called for in the next few weeks.

Congratulations on another great show weekend!

Lots of great things coming in the future. In the immediate short term we have the Regionals show Sunday evening.

We will performing a (6) couple LBS. Following is the line-up.

Women: Nancy, Olga, Magdalena, Riitta, Katya, Christine
Men: Mike, Geeman, Mario, Carlos, Stephen, Ken

Rehearsal will be from 8 to 10 working that routine. The above people are called for it. As for the rest of the team, enjoy a break. I do need to hear from you. Some have spoken to me about your intentions to continue (or not). I've heard rumors from others. Please let me know.

Next weds (7/5) will be an all call celebration and show viewing. Please ALL come regardless of your intentions to stay or not, it will be about celebrating the show, and an opportunity to say to everybody what's up.

A Chance To Dance: Secrets in the Stars

Our 2006 showcase production, A Chance To Dance: Secrets in the Stars, is an original theatrical show—a dancical really—all the makings of a musical (without the singing). This ballroom dance showcase features 14 original dances choreographed by the USA Dance Seattle Performance Team and local professional dance instructors. Watch a comedy unfold as passengers go aboard the S.S. Stargazer for a trip to a lost Incan City.

The featured passengers in this high seas comedy include: a stuffy socialite, a very clever scientist, a story-telling porter, a Hollywood dancer, an injured matador, a sneaky instigator and commander. Meet a few more as the Stargazer sets sail for Southern ports and see them tell their stories through the beautiful waltz, a crazy tango, a sultry rumba, and more!

2006 Season is over. Thank you for your support!

Hi Team!
There is a slight change in the dance schedule for Wednesday and Saturday. Please be advised.

7-8 – Paso Doble (Malaguena)
8-9 - All dance run-through for dances we know so far
9-10 – Opening of Act 2 dance

Sirius Dance rehearsal which was originally scheduled for 7-8 Wednesday will move to Saturday, 4-5:30pm

Lines and blocking rehearsal for 23 March:
7:30pm - Scenes 3, 4 and 5
9:00pm – Top of the show review

Wednesday (March 8th) rehearsal is changing. Following is how it will go:

7 to 8: Backlead follow (BF)

8 to 9 Paso (PA)

9 to 10 Starry Waltz (SW)

The change is the order of the dances and that we are adding SW to the schedule. We are close to finishing that dance. Please reply and acknowledge that you see the change. It is very important that all the dancers be there for the appropriate routines. Check the dance matrix if you have any questions as to the dances you are in.

Hello team,
I have just held up the gun and fired. It's time to showcase! ;-)

Wednesday we will begin work on the "Meet & Greet" dance. That is to "Beyond the Sea"
Characters that are in that dance: Miranda, Isabella, Santiago, Alberto, Kate, Captain, Samuel, Romy, Rocky, Doris.

This is the opening scene to the show, boarding the ship. So a lot of people in that one is important. The people who signed up for it (other than characters) Include: Cassie, Hilda, Jeanette, Carlos, Larry, Hilorie.

So all of those on the list are expected to be there, others are welcome. (Magdalena ;-)

The dance will be mostly foxtrot with some swing elements. There will be blocking built into the dance as well.

The second half of practice will be dedicated to starting "Starry waltz"
The list is as follows: Jeanette, Cindy, Emily, Gayle, Riitta, Sharon, Nancy, Hilda, Madgalena, Mike, Geeman, Steve, Stephen, Mario, Larry, Carlos, Hans, Ken.

Susan, I would encourage you to stay with us and learn this one as we could have opportunities to perform it outside of showcase.
