I would like to say that I have had a wonderful time working with all of you. Being on the team has brought me great happiness and many fantastic memories.

However, it's time for me to leave. I know I've told many of you about my situation and what I have dreamed of has finally come to pass.

I have a job offer in Malta as a Medical Sales Representative and I have turned in my resignation at my current job, effective 5/18. I hope to be flying out on the 22 or the 23rd of this month.

Thank you all for all of your kindness, caring, and support.

I will forever treasure the memories from being on the team.

And when we get a video of the last showcase...I'd like a visual memory too :P

Take care everyone. You'll always be remembered fondly.

I don't know if this is helpful to anyone, but here is the video clip of the recent cha cha grouping that we learned, as well as my notes on the steps for the medley. Apologies if the notes are confusing, but this is how I learn and what makes sense to me.

I came across a video of a Moldovian ballroom dance team doing a standard style formation routine, and it was both impressive and inspiring. Here's the link:

The music changes and transitions were somewhat abrupt, but it didn't keep the dancers from dancing seamlessly in near-perfect formations. Perhaps someday soon, our dance team will get to travel and compete internationally against teams like this. :-)

Fabulous Snowball performance (and competition)

For those of us who have competed/performed at Snowballs years past, this might have seemed like a different world. The stage setting has made competition a whole lot more exciting for the audience (bring on ballroom bumpercars! yay!), and, I can imagine, more frustrating for competitors! But we, teamdancers, have lived in bright lights before. Beautiful stage, sassy dancing before a scrutinizing audience that knows quality. Well done, Team!

Snowball Classic + Whistler + SuperBowl

This is going to be one action-packed weekend!

First, on Friday the team is going to perform at the Snowball Classic Competition (IDSF) in Richmond, B.C., Canada. We'll be opening the evening session at around 7 PM with the Performance Team's "Hip Hop" Latin Medley. Unfortunately, there is no formation competition at this year's Snowball, but it's nice that we were still invited to go and perform.

Next, on Saturday, some of us will go further North, to Whistler Blackcomb for some skiing and relaxation. Of course, the die-hard dance competition aficionados will stay at the Snowball to watch the spectacular championship competition.

Then finally, by Sunday afternoon, I'm sure everyone is going to be watching and cheering the Seattle Seahawks in SuperBowl XL! GO HAWKS!

New "blocks"

A block is a mini-section on the left and/or right side of the page. For example, the "About us" block typically sits on the top of the left side and the "Gallery image" block is over on the right side. If you are logged in, you can select which blocks you wish to see by changing your settings in my account. (It's in your user navigation block on the left side.)

I've been making some little changes here and there:

On the right side, I've renamed "random image" to "Gallery Image" and also added an "Event countdown" block.
Logged-in team members might have noticed a new menu block on the left side of the page called Team stuff -- it has handy links to the most pertinent team information.

Some features I'm currently considering:

Add some quicks links to the Galley image block for people to access slideshows easily.
Expand on the Event countdown block to make each item point to more information

If you have any suggestions for the site, please leave a comment here or drop me a note by email!

Happy new year, everyone!

The team performed its Latin medley and "Shall We Dance" routines in the middle of a whole evening of festivities at the New Year's Eve party at the dance studio. And on New Year's Day, some of the team went to Stevens Pass for a fun day at the slopes and others went out for a fun night of social dancing.

New galleries of showcase photos

The photo gallery is now up and running. It's currently populated with photos from a few previous team showcases. If you'd like to add to the albums, you can stick them in the Guest album. I can then move it into the right album hierarchy. You could also ask me for more access permissions if you'd like to help build and maintain the gallery portion of the site. Thanks!

This new website is now live at TeamDancers.org! There might be some growing pains as new features get added and quirky bugs surface. Feel free to let me know if you run into any issues.

Several features on the site are only available to registered members. For example, you must log in before you can make any comments, and newly registered users will need to get account approval before they can make other types of posts.
